Training and immigration to New Zealand for managers and marketers

At the moment, managers are not on the list of sought-after specialities in New Zealand, which means that it will be extremely unlikely to find work in this area without a local education and work visa. The thing is that in order to obtain a work visa, the employer will have to prove to Immigration New Zealand that they need you specifically as an employee and that they could not find a suitable local specialist. And since there are enough managers in New Zealand who work across all sectors, proof of the need for you specifically will be a very difficult task.

Solution for managers

The most effective pathway for most marketers and managers who want to move to New Zealand is professional education in the field of Business, which can lead to obtaining a Post Study Work Visa. There are various possible directions: Management, Marketing, Digital Marketing, Digital Business, Business Informatics, Information Science, Entrepreneurship, Finance, International Business, Tourism, Agribusiness, Analytics,  Accounting, Economics and so on.

In our view, the more specific your chosen field and specialization, the higher your chances of finding employment in the industry. General information about immigration through study is available on our website.

At the same time, training can be both economical and prestigious. Follow this link for more information on the difference between universities. You can pick up a program in almost any major city in New Zealand. More information about different cities in New Zealand.

If you already have a degree and/or relevant work experience, you can finish a Master’s program in New Zealand in just 1–1.5 years. Or, if you’re changing fields, you can start fresh and complete a Bachelor’s degree in three years. Either way, you’ll be able to apply for a Post Study Work Visa once you graduate.

Admission requirements to New Zealand universities

To gain admission to a training program, you need to pass IELTS Academic or an equivalent to the required score (depends on the level of training), or a free internal test in some institutes is required. For those who already have an education, the training will last 1 year, during which each student has the right to work part-time (up to 25 hours per week). This will not only improve your language skills but also ensure that you earn for your stay.
But most importantly – at the end of the course students are given a Post Study Work Visa to seek employment relevant to your qualification.  More about the visa here.

What to do if your English level is not sufficient?

The answer is simple — improve your English and prepare for the required exams. This can be done independently, through local courses in your city, at language schools in the Philippines, or directly in New Zealand.

If you need to strengthen your English, please mention this when speaking with our managers, as some universities offer free language courses prior to starting degree programs.

Job after graduation

To extend your Post Study Work Visa or to become eligible for residency, you need to secure a job that aligns with the program you have completed. In other words, you must apply the skills you gained during your studies, and your job description should reasonably correspond to the subjects you studied, even if not fully. Details on the types of roles you may qualify for after graduation can be found in our article.

What positions you will be able to apply for after graduation, you can read in our article. We have prepared for you an entire article with statistics and useful links for assistance in finding a job.
