Immigration Through Education — Our Experience with KiwiEducation
In June 2017, our family reached a turning point: we made the decision to leave Turkey and start a new life in a new country. While searching online, I came across a fascinating opportunity — immigration through education. We were choosing between Canada and New Zealand, and eventually decided on New Zealand due to its simpler visa process and other appealing features of the country (just to note, what appeals to one person may not appeal to another, so it’s important to choose carefully based on your own priorities).
Since we were complete beginners when it came to visas, we immediately started looking for a trustworthy agency that could guide us through the unknown.
Once again, we faced a choice — but it was an easy one. We went with Kiwi Education because they work with all educational institutions in New Zealand, they provide comprehensive support tailored to each individual case, and I had a strong inner feeling — this is exactly what we need. And I wasn’t wrong.
Our case was a bit more complicated due to several factors:
- We needed to move together as a family from the start (so the option to have one person go first and settle before bringing the others wasn’t suitable).
- We were living in Turkey.
- We have three children — not your typical student setup.
After filling out the application form, we received specific recommendations for what to do next. In our case, they suggested that I apply for a postgraduate program based on my diploma from Bauman Moscow State Technical University. They also recommended studying outside Auckland, which could positively impact the points we’d earn for residency later.
To simplify the visa application process, we went to Moscow, carefully planned the timeline, and made sure we could get visas not only for me but also for all my family members.
I can say for sure: we wouldn’t have managed without their help. I had to prepare all the documents myself (my husband isn’t great with paperwork…), while also being a mom of three kids and having very little help. So having clear instructions and guidance was absolutely essential for me.
Our manager, Alena, always answered our questions and gave important recommendations, especially when things were unclear or uncertain. One more thing — she was also a bit of a psychologist for us. When it felt like some things were impossible to find or solve, she encouraged us, reassured us that everything was possible, and with her support, we kept going.
Under Alena’s expert guidance, we:
- Submitted documents to WelTec,
- Successfully applied for and received a student visa,
- Secured a partner work visa for my husband,
- Got visitor and student visas for our children.
