Choosing the program
I began preparing for studying in New Zealand by learning English. Since my language level was low, the preparation stage took some time. However, my family and I didn’t waste that time. We explored information about the country, tried to focus on the “downsides,” but also gladly absorbed the many enthusiastic reviews.
It so happened that one of our main sources of information about New Zealand was the Kiwi Education website. Along with Denis’s YouTube channel about life in NZ. So when it came time to choose a Master’s program, there was no doubt about whom to contact. We reached out to the already familiar Kiwi Education team. I even prepared for the IELTS exam with a Kiwi Education teacher.
While searching for a Master’s program, we came across the joint IT program by SPbPU and WelTec. The program seemed beneficial to me both financially (the first trimester is online, and the overall tuition fee is much lower) and in terms of realistically assessing my own strength regarding my IT background and academic English.
Studying at SPbPU and Weltec
The studies at SPbPU captivated me from the very first weeks. Most of the subjects turned out to be not only interesting but also practically useful. In February 2024, I continued my studies at WelTec in New Zealand. That’s when another advantage of the joint program revealed itself. The existing community of fellow students from the current, previous, and next intakes. Being part of this community helps not only with academics but also with everyday challenges in a new country.
As for New Zealand itself, I can’t say that anything disappointed us. Quite the opposite. Since we tried not to idealize the country before coming, we were pleasantly surprised upon arrival. I highly recommend learning as much as possible about New Zealand before moving here.
Working with Kiwi Education
I want to say a special thank you to the Kiwi Education team, especially to my consultant Ksenia and to Serj. They handled all current communication with the university and immigration authorities. This significantly lightened my load, saved me from unnecessary stress, and allowed me to focus fully on my studies. All in a very friendly and comfortable atmosphere.
If anyone is interested in our family’s experience, feel free to reach out. We’ll be happy to share how we searched for and rented a home, opened bank accounts, bought a car, enrolled our 16-year-old daughter in school, went on our first fishing trips, and what life is like in the suburbs of Wellington.
