The largest new accommodation build to date, Tupuānuku, offers 504 fully-furnished student rooms in 2021, focusing on culture and lifestyle. Located amongst other halls of residence, the location on Homestead Lane (adjacent to the Ilam Homestead and gardens) is a short 5-minute walk to main campus facilities. The layout consists of long corridors divided into smaller colour-coded neighbourhoods.
Ilam Apartments is an apartment-style complex that offers independent living on campus for 847 residents. The room will be located in a 5-room Hinau suite. The secure, fully-equipped apartments are situated on campus, just five minutes’ walk from lecture theatres and other campus facilities. Students from this scholarship will be placed together.

UC International Scholarship for Accommodation
- Free accommodation for the first year in a Hinau room at Ilam Apartments;
- Three meals a day across the street from the campus in Tupuānuku (3 times a week);
- Specialised support from residential consultants during the first year of residence at Ilam Apartments;
- Opportunity to participate in the Future Leaders among International Students program;
- NZ$ 5,000 for the second year of accommodation at Ilam Apartments;
- The total value of the scholarship is NZ$ 18,000.
How to apply
- Fill out an application for accommodation at Ilam Apartments by noon on September 22.
- Fill out the Expression of Interest online by noon on September 22.
Students applying for the scholarship must be 18 years old by the first semester of 2022 (February 21 2022).
