GENERAL INFORMATION
From March 19 (23:59 NZT), New Zealand has closed the borders to everyone except citizens, residents. Limitations may be reviewed after 16 days.

Update from June 8. New Zealand is returning to normal live and moving to the first quarantine level. There are no more active cases of COVID-19 in the country. All restrictions for public transport, public places, cafes, restaurants and events are removed. New Zealand’s life is completely returning to normal, with the exception of borders that remain closed. The decision to open borders, at least for Australia, has not yet been made.
Self-isolation for all arrivals
Everyone who arrives in New Zealand must follow the Ministry of Health’s instructions for self-isolation for 14 days. Such measures apply to all visitors with the exception of parts of the Pacific.
Self-isolation means you should avoid situations that could facilitate the transmission of the virus such as social gatherings and events where you come into contact with others. What to do if you have a visa and you do not enter to New Zealand?
Unfortunately, at the moment you are not allowed come to New Zealand. Please check your visa conditions and last date when you can enter New Zealand.
Update from March 25. Look at your visa conditions. If the entry deadline is March 31 in your visa, you need to apply for a new visa. Unfortunately, INZ officially announced that there will be no visa extension.

What to do if you are in the country on a temporary visa?
Holders of a work, student, or visitor visa with an expiry date of 1 April 2020 or earlier and who are unable to leave New Zealand must apply online for a new visa. An interim visa will be issued.
Holders of a work, student, visitor, limited or interim visa with an expiry date of 2 April to 9 July 2020 inclusive who are in New Zealand on 2 April 2020 will have their visas automatically extended to 25 September 2020. Confirmation of extensions will be emailed to all visa holders.
