This article is for those who have already chosen New Zealand as his destination. We assume, that it would be helpful to gather in one place some general information on how to make the whole process cheaper or at least save some money and time where it’s possible to save.
Work
Of course, the most economical option would be to move straight for a job. But we won’t even include that as a real “tip,” because finding a job while still outside of New Zealand is extremely difficult. You’d need an employer accredited to hire migrants who’s also willing to support your work visa. Very few companies are ready to take this on because:
- It’s risky: they haven’t met you in person
- It requires waiting for visa processing
- They don’t know how you’ll adapt to the country
- It involves additional costs for them
That’s why most employers prefer hiring candidates already in New Zealand. Ideally, those with a valid work visa.

English Language
For those who are not from English-speaking country, or whose level of English is not sufficient yet, it’s possible to save a significant amount of money on English language courses.
- Study English or prepare for exams at your city or online. It won’t be as intensive as in New Zealand, however it will cost less and you can study and work at the same time.
- Take English course in the Philippines. We also partners of the best language academies in the Philippines. We opened this direction for those who need intensive tuition and move fast. The majority of nationalities don’t need visa to enter the Philippines. The price is lower and intensity is higher than in New Zealand.
- Use Discounts on NZ English Courses. This is one of Kiwi Education’s key services. We work with all language schools in NZ and often negotiate significant discounts.
- Choose Programs with Free English Courses. Some universities offer bundled programs, where the English course is included in the cost of your future diploma course.
Professional Education
Getting local education in New Zealand remains the most reliable path to immigration. Through this you can start a new career in 2–3 years or upgrade / change your profession (1-2 years). And if planned and arranged properly it gives many benefits, such as:
- Legal part-time work (helps to cover some of the living expenses)
- Full-time work rights for your partner (helps to cover significant part of living and studying expenses)
- Free school for your children
- A pathway to a post-study work visa
After graduation, it’s easier to find a job, which improves your chances of getting residency. Still, there are smart ways to save money:
Choose the Right Program
Sounds a bit generally, however many people simply don’t know about possibilities. And therefore they overpay, or get limited visas, or study longer than needed. For example:
- Some high school graduates do a Foundation Year + Bachelor = 4 years
- But it’s sometimes possible to go through a polytechnic = 3 years total
Our experience helps you optimize your study pathway.
Use Joint programs (double-diploma)
This is our unique product, created and refined over the years and you won’t find anything alike. You study the first 4–6 months online from home (or anywhere), saving money on the tuition cost and living expenses. Then you study 12 months in New Zealand, earning a Master’s degree and a 3-year post-study work visa.
Cost comparison (study + living expenses):
- Traditional path: ~NZ$70,000
- Joint program: from ~NZ$43,000
That’s NZ$27,000 in savings.
Current programs include:
- Management and International Trade
- Information Technology
- Business Informatics

Get Discounts on Diploma Programs
We also negotiate tuition discounts on diploma programs — from NZ$1,000 to NZ$10,000. Most of these are not public offers, and are only available through us as official partners of NZ institutions.
Best offers / discounts / scholarships
These are our basic advice, which might seem obvious. However our experience shows that many people could have saved thousands of dollars and sometimes years of time, had only they got the full proper information and possible options for their cases.
