Immigration Through Investment

New Zealand is not only a comfortable place to live, but also an investment potential and a constant growth of profits from investments. There is a category for gaining residence specifically for investors – Active Investor Plus Visa. The objective of the visa is to attract financial capital to local firms or government by providing resident visas to those who wish to make a significant contribution to New Zealand’s economy.

Criteria for obtaining an Active Investor Plus visa

The main criterion is the investment value.

Direct investments weight three times higher than indirect ones, such as private equity and philanthropy.

To meet the investment amount requirements, the candidate must guarantee:

  • direct investment of NZ$ 5 million or more
  • indirect investment of NZ$ 15 million or more

The new visa category gives preference to those who are willing to share access to international knowledge, capital, connections and markets. This approach will help stimulate the business environment and create greater growth in the labour market than previous categories of investor visas.

The second important criterion for obtaining a visa is knowledge of English. The applicant must satisfy the language requirement by providing an IELTS score of at least 5.0.

Timeframe

The investor must commit to investing in New Zealand for a three-year period and must maintain their investment in New Zealand until the end of the fourth year.

Visa holders must also spend at least 117 days in New Zealand over the four-year period.
