Postgraduate Diploma in Information Technology
Whitecliffe has just opened applications for the new Postgraduate Diploma in Information Technology (Level 8). Offered through a mix of online learning and face-to-face seminars, the postgraduate diploma is a blended learning programme available to students living throughout New Zealand.
This qualification provides a pathway for graduates wishing to engage in higher-level studies or progress their career in the IT industry. The programme offers specialisations in cyber security, ubiquitous computing, data analysis, and machine learning and includes a substantial industry-based applied project.
In addition, as the course is a mix of on-campus and online classes, it provides much more flexibility for the student’s daily life at an extremely competitive price!
Programme Structure
The Level 8 Postgraduate Diploma in Information Technology is a 120 credit programme, consisting of two compulsory subjects of 20 credits each, an elective subject of 20 credits, and a final project of 60 credits.
Compulsory subjects (40 credits in total)
- Research methods and skills (20 credits)
- Technology Management (20 credits)
Elective Subjects: The student must choose one of the four options (20 credits)
- Cyber Security (20 credits)
- Data analysis (20 credits)
- Ubiquitous Computing and Intelligent Systems (20 credits)
- Machine learning (20 credits)
Compulsory Capstone Final Project (60 credits)
Entry requirements for international students
- Application form

- Motivation letter
- IELTS Academic overall score of 6.5 with no band less than 6.0 or equivalent
- The candidate must have one of the following qualifications:
– A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related discipline with a B- or higher average, OR
– Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma in Information Technology or related field
*Special consideration may be offered for admission by the Deputy Chief Executive Academic based on evidence of academic capability and work experience.
