This scholarship aims to support high-performing athletes who wish to study at Victoria University of Wellington.
It is open to athletes from all sports and academic disciplines who plan to enroll in the first year of an undergraduate degree at Victoria University of Wellington.
Eligibility for the Scholarship Criteria
- Applicants must be international students paying full tuition fees.
- Applicants must be enrolling in the first year of their first undergraduate degree.
- Applicants must be, at a minimum, representatives at the regional, state, and/or national level in their chosen sport.
Scholarship recipients are expected to:
- Be active members of the Student Athlete Network;
- Join a sports club registered with Victoria University of Wellington;
- Represent the university in university-level and elite competitions in New Zealand.
Scholarships will be awarded based on athletic performance (regional, state, or national representation), academic merit, leadership contributions to sport, and other personal circumstances.
Application Process
Applications can be submitted through the university’s website.
The completed online application and all required documents must be submitted by 4:30 PM on September 1 (New Zealand time).
Required Documents:
- A motivation letter outlining your goals and intended outcomes;
- Evidence of sporting achievements and results from the past year.
Selection Process
Selection will be carried out by the Victoria University of Wellington Undergraduate Scholarships Committee in consultation with university staff and chaired by the Head of Sport and Recreation. The Committee’s decisions are final.
All scholarship recipients are also guaranteed a place in one of the university’s halls of residence, provided that University Accommodation Wellington receives the accommodation application by October 1.
